Africa Market

The Hay Festival is coming up at the end of this week, and once again an Africa Market has been organised at the Parish Hall on Sunday 29th May. Fairtrade Hay will be there, and so will Love Zimbabwe and other stalls and activities, including drumming.

Then on Monday 30th there will be a Refugee Market, again with activities including Syrian calligraphy - and a Paddington Bear picnic (bring a teddy!).

Disco Afrique

This week, the Honorary Consul of Mali has been visiting Hay, which is twinned with Timbuktu, and next month is Black History Month. So thoughts of Africa are in the air, and on 11th October Fairtrade Hay will be getting together with Medics4Timbuktu for Disco Afrique, an evening of African and Latin American music at the Parish Hall. It starts at 8pm, and tickets are £5.00. In the afternoon, there will be two drum workshops and a dance workshop, and there will be a talk by Martha from Love Zimbabwe at 5pm, which is free. The workshops cost £3.00 each, and the first one, at 4pm, is aimed at children.
So a whole afternoon of interesting things to do, and dancing into the night!
